My Mom is My Hero
My mom cares for me in a lot of different ways than just feeding me or providing me a home. My mom saves me from monsters such as my dad when he’s mad at me, my brother when he bullies me, and other mean people. Another monster is laziness and lack of discipline that’s sometimes in me. My mom inspires and motivates me to be better. She also keeps me healthy, feeling safe, secure and loved.
My mom heals my feelings when I’m hurting. After a bad day at school or other negative events, my mom does and says things to make me feel better. First, she comes over and gives me a big, tight hug. Then she strokes my hair. It’s very soothing and calms me down. Immediately, I smile and feel relaxed and assured. Then she gives her time listening to me tell her what happened. She’s always on my side, and she understands how I feel. I can always count on her to be there for me.
My mom is always encouraging me to try harder, to be better a little each time. For example, I’m always reading one more page, doing one more jumping jack, or eating one more spoon of food—to push a little more each time. She’s very serious about me becoming my best. She pushes me to my maximum. I see my mom wake up at 4am to go to work and she doesn’t stop working until late at night. I see my mom work hard, and then try harder, so I try to be like her. With everything I do, I try to do a little better, every day.
I’ve learned from my mom to continue to be curious and courageous all through life. She is always learning new things even though she is done with school and is already too busy. She always has at least 2 side jobs. I remember my mom networking, running around to conventions and seminars, spending days in training, or reading books. She is always curious about new ways to make money. She is always curious about how to be better in general. Now my mom has added working out and cooking healthy meals for us to her list. She is always telling me to experiment more, to gain more experiences. She always tells me “Don’t be afraid to fail, as long as you are learning something.” I feel inspired to explore different things in my life without fear of making a mistake.
My mom makes health a priority. She makes me drink a lot of water. She doesn’t let me drink soda, or even try it! She’s afraid I’ll get addicted to it. I sneaked a taste of it one time, and I didn’t like it! I thought it was too fizzy, smelled like rubber, and it tasted terrible. My mom always adds more greens to my plate. But I am only willing to eat vegetables like carrots, broccoli, cucumbers and lettuce. My mom keeps me active. I love swimming and I’m excited to join Brazilian Jujitsu soon!
I’m glad to have my mom as my hero. Whatever new things I want to try, my mom usually says, ”Yes” or “Sure. Try it!” I appreciate that she allows me to explore all my options. And if I fail, I know she’ll be ready with a hug. I always appreciate that I’m rich…not just rich in money, but in lessons, health and in love. My mom is definitely my hero.
