Purpose of Greeting
You should greet to make friends in school or any other situations. If I am shy they might not want to be my friend. They might think I don’t like them or I don’t want to play, just because I am quiet so they leave me alone. I might miss out on a game they wanted to play with me.
Greetings are also important when you come visit a relative’s house. If you come into someone house without greeting, they will think you are trespassing or intruding. If someone greets and smiles then you should do the same thing. If I come into a relatives house without greeting, they might think I am mad or in a bad mood. They may not want to talk to me to avoid me. If I greet them, they might like me more or they will offer me food and I don’t have to ask. If they ignore me, then I have to be the one who asks them for some snacks.
I also should greet in school to the teacher so I can get treated with more respect. By saying “hi” then the teacher may think I am respectful and smarter so she will pick my hand more often. Then I would have more chances to share in class. I will make a better impression than the quiet kids then she will grade me better on report cards.
I give respect to get respect. I get treated better and I get notice more. Also because they are comfortable talking to me, they open up more to me. This may lead to more snacks, more toys, and more relationships.
